How to Turn Off Phone Calls on Your iPhone

If you’re getting a lot of phone calls on your iPhone, you might want to learn how to turn off them. There are many ways to do this, including using Do Not Disturb mode and other features.

Alternatively, you can use the ringer volume to silence incoming calls or set a silent ringtone. You can also block calls from specific contacts or groups.

1. Turn off Do Not Disturb

The Do Not Disturb feature on your iPhone is a great way to avoid phone calls and other notifications while you’re trying to focus on something else. It’s also a helpful feature when you’re driving, as it will stop all incoming messages and call interruptions so you can stay focused.

With iOS 12 and newer, Apple has taken the Do Not Disturb feature a bit further. Rather than just turning it on and off, you can now schedule when Do Not Disturb will be activated, and you can customize which types of calls and notifications will be allowed to ring through.

For example, you can allow calls from friends and family, but only if they’re on your list of Favorites or have repeatedly called within 3 minutes. This can help ensure that you don’t miss an important call, or make sure your calls aren’t too intrusive for your sleep or a meeting.

2. Turn off Silent Mode

When you don’t want to be disturbed by incoming phone calls or notifications, it can be useful to use silent mode on your iPhone. It can help you avoid distractions when you’re in a meeting or are trying to sleep.

You can easily turn off Silent Mode on your iPhone with a simple push of the Ring/Silent switch located on the left side of your device (above the volume buttons). When you’re using silent mode, all phone sounds will stop and you won’t be able to hear any ringers or notification alerts.

There are times when you need to get out of silent mode on your iPhone, but you don’t have access to the physical ring/silent switch. In those situations, you can use the control center to turn off silent mode on your iPhone.

Another way to unmute your phone is to manually press the volume up and down buttons during an incoming call. That will cause your iPhone to mute the incoming call and make it stop ringing, but you can also try changing your ringer volume from Settings & Sounds & Haptics.

Alternatively, you can set up your iPhone to automatically unsilence the phone when you push the Silent Mode button. This can be handy when you’re at church, a movie or concert and don’t want your phone to ring.

3. Turn off Text Message Forwarding

Text Message Forwarding allows you to automatically send a text message from your iPhone to a different phone number. This feature can be useful for sending important messages to people at work or home, or when your phone is out of battery and you need to send someone a message quickly.

You can turn on Text Message Forwarding by opening the Messages app on your iPhone and going to Settings > Messages. From there, tap Use Your Apple ID for iMessage and sign in with your Apple ID. You should then be prompted to enter a verification code. If you choose to use two-factor authentication, the code will also appear on your other devices.

Once your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac are signed in using the same Apple ID as your iPhone, incoming SMS text messages will be sent and received by each device. When a user receives a reply from another device, the text will be forwarded back to the original device, utilizing the same encryption methods described in the iMessage security overview.

To activate this feature, your iPhone and the other device must be running iOS 8.1 or later, and your Mac must be running OS X Yosemite. You must also have the iCloud feature set up to let your iPhone and Mac share the same iCloud account.

Without Text Message Forwarding enabled in Settings, Apple’s iMessages (messages in blue bubbles) will show up on all your devices and prioritize them based on presence. Otherwise, plain-text SMS or rich-media MMS text messages (messages in green bubbles) will only show up on your iPhone.

4. Turn off Call Forwarding

If you’re getting a lot of calls on your iPhone and you don’t want them to ring on your other devices, there are a few things you can do. One of them is to turn off call forwarding.

You can do this by going to Settings on your phone and tapping Phone. You’ll then find the Call Forwarding option there. Once you’ve activated this option, you can then turn it off by toggling the switch to Off.

The Call Forwarding feature is a popular phone management feature that allows you to redirect or forward incoming calls to another number unconditionally or on a certain condition. It’s a great way to help ensure that you never miss an important call, even when you’re busy or away from your phone.

However, it’s also possible that you might run into trouble with this feature. This is especially the case if you’re using mobile data and you haven’t set it up correctly.
